The Master of Information Technology (MIT) is designed to position graduates as highly skilled and knowledgeable professionals who work with data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) to drive change and improve business outcomes. Students are encouraged to bring your own device (BYOD) for studying. This program is delivered 100% online. There is no on-campus attendance in Australia or in Indonesia. Enrolment does not require an Australian student visa, and does not confer any migration outcome, permanent residency pathway, or right to work in Australia.

Course Duration

The Master of Information Technology is a 2-year full-time course (or equivalent part-time). It is normally delivered over 4 study periods (2 study periods per year). Each study period consists of 12 teaching weeks plus a mid-study period break of 1 week and 2 assessment weeks.

Full-time students will normally enroll in 4 subjects per study period (8 subjects per year). Please allocate 10 hours per week for each subject. This includes 3 contact hours, plus 7 hours for personal/private study, totaling 40 hours per week for full-time study.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT

To be eligible for this programme, you must meet the academic entry requirements. If the qualifications you are taking are not listed, please contact the Admissions for further guidance.

  1. At least 18 years old.
  2. Applicants with higher education study (bridging or enabling course): Must have an Australian Bachelor's degree (AQF level 7) or overseas equivalent in any discipline.
  3. Assumed knowledge: Assumed to have studied mathematics or a related subject in an undergraduate degree or final year of secondary education. Those without may still apply and are encouraged to participate in support activities.

To be eligible for this programme, you must meet the at least one of the english entry requirements. If the qualifications you are taking are not listed, please contact the Admissions for further guidance.

  1. Completed two years or longer of study in Australia; or
  2. Successful completion of an Australian Year 12 program; or
  3. Successful completion of an English language course approved by AIAT from a registered English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS) provider. Such courses give students the minimum English Language Proficiency (ELP) standard; or
  4. Achievement of the minimum requirements in an approved English language test no less than 24 months prior to commencement of studies at AIAT. The following approved English language tests and minimum standards are documented in Table B of the Admissions Procedure:
    • IELTS (Academic) Overall 6.5 (min. sub-score of 6.0 each)
    • TOEFL paper based test score of 550 (min. 4.5 TWE – Test of Written English)
    • TOEFL – (iBT) 79 (min. 18 in writing)
    • PTE 55 (no skill score < 45)
    • CAE Level B2 176

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

What Will You Learn?

The Master of Information Technology is a postgraduate qualification consisting of 16 subjects (160 credit points), taught face to face in English, which normally takes two years of full-time study or part-time equivalent.


To be eligible to graduate from the Master of Information Technology students are required to complete the 16 subjects which must include:

  • 8 core subjects including 2 capstone project subjects,
  • 4 major subjects as per the chosen specialisation and
  • a curated selection of electives tailored to meet industry demand and emerging trends

AIAT offers the Master of Information Technology with specialisations in Emerging Technology Management, Applied Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics (subject to availability). Students who are admitted in these advanced master's programs complete 16 subjects (160 credit points), which include the 8 mandatory core subjects, 4 specialist subjects based on the Emerging Technology Management, Applied Artificial Intelligence or Data Analytics majors, and 4 electives tailored to meet industry demand and emerging trends.
